Dear Julie,
My time spent here in Crown heights has truly been mesmerizing to say the least. You are not going to believe the lady that I interviewed not too long ago. Well as you know, I was on the hunt on getting an interview with a Jewish woman to tell her side of the story and I met this woman in a coffee shop who seemed perfect. Turns out she has never left her home in the last six years and had no idea what I was going on in her community! She owns her own preschool right in the basement of her home with 5 young children on her own and seemed like the type of woman who hasn’t had a conversation with a stranger in years. She would not stop talking about her religion! You should hear my recorder, she spends 30 minutes talking about a damn radio that wouldn’t shut up for some reason. She had a think New York accent which a scarf around her hair to indicate the Jew in her. She was incredibly charismatic in the way she spoke about her family, apparently she can make the best Fetoush salad the town has had in a while. She spoke with her hands which was quite entertaining to say the least. Oh Julie, you would die if you met her. Well I do hope you and Charles are doing ok. I hope to be back home soon, as long as the interviews go as planned. Ciao dear!
